08/2014 - Microsoft has to grant access to users' data in Europe

According to judge Loretta Preska of the federal court in New York, US Internet groups may be forced to grant access to users' data saved abroad. Microsoft's objection concerning a respective search warrant of the US legal authority was dismissed. [source: Zeit Online]. Microsoft is indeed fighting against the judgement which has not yet become effective. However, is it legitimate to trust Cloud-services provided by US concerns and their subsidiaries like for instance Office 365, Dropbox, etc. as a managing director the light of this legal position?
